July 10, 2014—Lifeguard Press recalled its charging kit, because the wall charger can overheat and emit smoke and sparks, which poses fire and burn hazards to consumers. Also, the charger prongs can detach and remain in the electrical outlet, which poses a risk of electrical shock.

This recall involves seven models of charging kits that have USB connectors that are used to recharge Apple iPhones, iPads and iPods. The recalled kits were sold under the Ban.do, Jonathan Adler and Lilly Pulitzer brand names and contain a wall charger, a 12-volt to 24-volt vehicle charger, a 30-pin USB cord and an Apple Lightning port adapter. The wall chargers are plastic cubes that are 1-1/4 inches long, 1 inch wide and 1/2-inch tall and have two metal prongs that plug into an electrical outlet on one end and a USB port on the opposite end. The recalled Ban.do wall chargers are yellow and black-and-white stripe. The recalled Jonathan Adler wall chargers have multicolor and blue-and-white patterns. The recalled Lilly Pulitzer wall chargers have pink floral patterns.

The affected Ban.do models are Power Trip Frills (item 14150111) and Power Trip Mermaid/Blush Stripe (14150118). The affected Jonathan Adler models are Architectural Borders (140250) and Hudson (140252). The affected Lilly Pulitzer models are Beach Rose (143501), Mai Tai (78602), and Trippin and Sippin (143504). The item number is printed on the back of the package in the lower right corner.

The charging kits were sold at Dillard’s, Lilly Pulitzer, Nordstrom’s and independent boutiques nationwide from February 2014 through June 2014. Lifeguard Press received six reports of wall chargers that emitted smoke and sparked, and six reports of prongs that detached from the plug. No injuries were reported. Consumers should unplug and stop using the wall charger and contact Lifeguard Press for instructions on how to return the charging kit for a full refund.
