May 20, 2014—Exmark recalled its 2009–2010 Quest ZRT riding lawnmowers, because the lawnmowers’ steering assembly can fail and cause riders to lose steering, which poses a crash hazard.

The lawnmower models are gray and red. “Exmark” is printed on the side and “Quest” is printed on the front. The model and serial numbers are printed on a metal plate that’s behind the seat on the left. The affected model numbers are QST20BE422, QST22BE482 and QST24BE522. The affected serial-number ranges are 803664 through 895485, 810131 through 887319, and 814303 through 891973.

The lawnmowers were sold at hardware, lawn and garden, and rental-equipment stores and at other stores nationwide from April 2009 through October 2010. Exmark received nine reports of incidents, which include a back injury. Consumers should stop using the recalled lawnmowers and contact an Exmark dealer for a free repair.
