Manufacturers and retailers have reported increased sales of fire pits and outdoor fireplaces over the past decade. Sheryl Isenhour, who owns outdoor-furniture retailer IBD Outdoor Rooms, says sales of fire pits and outdoor fireplaces at her company soared by 500 percent since 2008. Consequently, it might be more difficult for shoppers to find certain products at certain times of the year.
Douglas Peppler, who is the senior vice president of manufacturer Agio, which showed 26 fire-pit tables at the Outdoor International Casual Furniture & Accessories Market in Chicago in September 2013, says many retailers are putting Agio’s fire pits, which range in price from $1,400 to $3,000, on sale now, at the beginning of the year, in hopes of selling out their inventory by July. That means that they’ll be unavailable just as the prime outdoor season—summer and fall—is underway. However, Isenhour and Mark Stoner of distributor Regency Fireplace Products tell us that they will have plenty of fire pits and outdoor fireplaces available during summer and fall months.
